library & apple

one of my favorite places in the world is the library. stacks and walls and shelves of books, music, film, history, knowledge, information, entertainment...it makes me all tingly inside just thinking about it. Went there today. In Boston, the Copley Library is f**ing fantastic. It's beautiful and has an outdoor section with columns and a fountain. It's too cold to sit outside right now of course, unless you want to declared a historical monument when you freeze into an icicle, but summer's around the corner. I can see it now, men in thongs and speedos lounging in the library. Hot.

It's sunny today, so the mood is good. Typing away at the Apple store. Stevie Wonder is playing on the speakers. Just for the record, Justin Timberlake's song Until The End of Time is damn good. he's not too shabby either = )

nothing serious to report. peace.

you know, I was never much of a chocolate person. Maybe at a very young age, chocolate ice cream was a passion of sorts. But middle school/highschool/first round at college...chocolate was a non-issue. But now...give me chocolate or give me death. Ok, i'm exaggerating a bit. Maybe it's just this very moment. Need sleep.

btw, the power of the mind is fascinating...amazing actually. we are walking magnets. the idea of that is f***ing crazy. will get more into this later.

oh, and i wrote another song. was up until 5am writing. still needs a bit of fine tuning and such. am optimistic.

So, my dance class was cancelled and I'm taking this opportunity to write and blog blog blog. You know, the media often writes the negative things in the world. We all know that. It can be really dis-heartening. Well, I for one am very excited about the Academy Awards! I'm not sure if I will have the time to watch it because of school, but isn't it great that people are going to celebrate and honor the great films of 2008?! I keep hearing rave reviews about "Slum Dog Millionaire", that movie is being added to the "must watch" list.

BTW, wrote some new songs = ) Can't wait to share them with you all.

Oh, and remember to download song "Time" FOR FREE. Yes, I'm capitalizing those two words so they are more eye-catching.

snow outside bedroom window

It's quite beautiful, the snow outside...it's so white it blinds your eyes if you stare at one spot for too long. Of course it makes you want to go outside with a big sled, except there are no hills near where I live. Plus the fact that this terrible cough won't subside...been under the weather and want very much to be over it.

While in bed, I've been listening to quite a bit of Joni Mitchell and watching Love Actually. How coincidental that the song "Both Sides Now" has been on my youtube rotation, and is also a pivotal scene in the film Love Actually. You know, the scene where Emma Thompson's character opens her Christmas gift thinking it is a necklace from her husband, only to find that it is a cd...I won't give too much away for those who haven't seen the film. And if that is the case, WATCH IT. It's funny, the music is fantastic, and you will remember what keeps us alive.

Love.

could possibly be coming down with something, keep coughing. cough cough. at first, thought it was because i was riding around in the Boston outdoors, and the cold air made the throat dry. It is now several hours later and throat is still dry. cough cough.

Today was Superbowl, still had no idea who won the game. But a friend of mine was rooting for the Steelers. at least I know that much, the Steelers were playing.

peace out. cough cough.

2009

Has it been that long...in between writings and rantings and random blogs?...my bad! In my defense, it was the butler in the living room with the candlestick.

I'm in Palo Alto, have a performance tonight at Stanford University for Listen to the Silence. A contradictory title seeing as to how the audience will be Listening To Me Singing... = )

Looking forward to it nonetheless. Have a new song that I just started working on, can not wait to share it with everyone! Think you all will like it...hope you all will love it!!!

PS, I've come to realize that when faucets run water without purpose, it make me anxious. I can not stop myself from turning off the water. You know when some like to leave the water running and they do something else, it makes me anxious. If EVERYONE turned off the water when we didn't need it, can you imagine how much water we would save??!! If EVERYONE saved one piece of paper, or used the backside of an old piece of paper to scribble a note, can you imagine how many trees we could save???!!! Can you imagine a world where we all had just the right amount of what we needed, not too much, not too little...

who needs tv when you have the T

So...I am typing away in Boston...the sun is out...it is a beautiful day...the public transportation in this city is quite an adventure...and just as entertaining as the one in NY...one really does not need tv in the city...though Internet is a different matter...someday, we all may have little wireless routers attached to our bodies...the other day, I was approached in the subway system by a man asking for spare change...he had a smart pair of Nikes and nice Nautica Polo to match...unfortunately i had no change to spare...

Just for the record, the thunder storms in this city are fucking fantastic!!! And this is coming from someone raised in good ol' rainey Washington, suicide capital of the US, or so I've been told, and in turn, have told many. And no, I have not googled this fact.

Here I am, typing away on my laptop, sitting in my new room, in a new city...bean town...Boston. Home of the Red Sox and Boston baked beans, which I have yet to try. A friend of mine affectionately dubbed me a "masshole". That's one I haven't before. It is hot, wet, humid, hot...like the inside of a mouth after a jalapeno pepper. And i love it. Love the heat, love the newness of everything, love being in the eastcoast. Love how unconventional everything feels, even the stench of the T and walking everywhere.

Though I must admit, I am NOT looking forward to the cold. I hear it is Brutal. With a capital B.

As for music...I do have more news coming...but I'm not ready to disclose yet...give me a few more weeks and I will write more...

with love. your artist,
-Lijie-
